Canadian singer-songwriter and record producer Abel Tesfaye, professionally known as The Weeknd, recently announced the release of his forthcoming album Dawn FM for this Friday, January 7. The album’s lineup is star-studded, including the likes of Tyler, The Creator, Lil Wayne, Oneohtrix Point Never (who was behind the iconic Super Bowl performance) and Quincy Jones. The record will also feature the legendary actor Jim Carrey with whom the singer has built an unlikely friendship. As of publishing time, the tracklist has yet to be revealed although the singer tweeted that the album cover and pre-save link will be arriving shortly.

Dawn FM is the much anticipated follow up to the singer’s 2020 release After Hours which dominated the airwaves with hits like “Save Your Tears“, “Heartless” and the record breaking “Blinding Lights” which spent miraculous 90 weeks on the chart and eventually earned the title of Billboard‘s #1 Hot 100 Song Of All Time. The Weeknd has been active throughout the pandemic, collaborating with FKA Twigs on “Tears In The Club“, Swedish House Mafia on “Moth To A Flame” and with Aaliyah on her posthumous track “Poison.” He has also planned return to live music with his upcoming ‘After Hours’ tour which was originally scheduled for the Summer of 2020 which had since been postponed to 2021 and has now been set for January 14 2022. Perhaps fans can expect to hear both After Hours and Dawn FM at the new live dates.
