Emmerdale spoilers follow.

After keeping her cooped up in her bedroom for days, Emmerdale's Meena Jutla finally set her plan in motion to kill her sister Manpreet in tonight's episode — but she's ensured that it'll be sadistically slow.

This evening's outing (Monday, January 3) saw Manpreet, who has been tortured and held captive by her serial killer sibling since last week, awaken from her drug-fuelled slumber and beg Meena (Paige Sandhu) for a drink.

"Wouldn't you try and escape if I did this to you?" said Manpreet, realising why Meena is deliberately holding out on her.

"If you did this to me?!" Meena laughed, as she forced Manpreet's gag back on. "Now that's funny. You're gonna have to wait for that drink, sorry. You know, with all the others, the thing I regret the most is that they happened so quickly. No chance for me to, you know, really enjoy the process.

"Not this time. This time I'm really gonna savour every moment. All that's left to do now is to decide how exactly we're gonna do this."

After teasing her some more over her dehydration, Meena left Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker) to run some errands and wound up in the doctor's surgery. There, she was forced to think on her feet when Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) caught her forging a Diazepam subscription.

Assuring him that she was just trying to get a hold of some anxiety-reducing medicine for herself, as she continued to pretend that she's recently lost a baby and she's struggling to look past her grief, Meena managed to manipulate Liam into prescribing her three-weeks worth of the drug.

"This is not a long-term solution," he insisted, to which she menacingly replied: "Don't worry, I really think this is all I'll need."

Back at the house, Meena presented Manpreet with a glass of water — or so it seemed — and a long, silly straw. The latter gulped the beverage down, only to realise too late that it tasted off.

"What have you put in there?!" she shouted.

"Oh, you know, a nice bit of diazepam thanks to Liam, and then well, let's just say, I spiced things up with a bit of this, bit of that, quite the cocktail. Oh! I almost forgot, I got you something nice to look at," Meena replied, whacking out a dog-themed calendar and hinting that she might attempt to off Princess the pooch again, too.

"You see, if I've got my calculations right with the dosages — and I'll be honest, I totally have — I'd say you've got seven days... max. Seven days? Best make the most of them, eh? I know I intend to."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
