Hawaii Five-0 alum Katrina Law is heading back to the Aloha State, and she’s bringing one of her new NCIS colleagues with her.
NCIS star Wilmer Valderrama announced on Monday via his Instagram account that CBS‘ most watched drama will be crossing over with the freshman offshoot NCIS: Hawai’i, for an episode set to air Monday, March 28.
You can watch Valderrama and Law, who respectively play NCIS Special Agents Nick Torres and Jessica Knight, share the news in the video below — as well as get reactions from Vanessa Lachey and the NCIS: Hawai’i cast:
NCIS of course is TV’s most watched entertainment program this season, while NCIS: Hawai’i ties FBI: International as the most watched new series.
No details on what precipitates the nearly-5,000 mile trip for Torres and Knight are yet available.
When TVLine spoke with the aforementioned NCIS series’ showrunners this fall, they had nothing firm to report regarding a first crossover but were both game for it.
“We haven’t discussed it yet,” NCIS showrunner Steven D. Binder told me, “but I’ve worked and known [NCIS: Hawai’i co-showrunner] Chris Silber for a really long time, so that always makes those sorts of things easier.”
Silber in turn told TVLine, “I’m always open to any sort of crossover that CBS will allow,” while CBS Entertainment chief Kelly Kahl said, “We just want to get the first batch of Hawai’is under our belt, and then we can talk about the fun stuff.”

I hate NCIS Hawaii, UGH!
I guess they’re trying everything to get ratings for Hawaii. I don’ t care for it either.
They should took the other Hawaii 5-0
Call it despiration. NCIS is no longer the good
show it was since all of the major cast departures and Hawaii has already been struggling along. The writers are lost and I think NCIS will end without some major improvements. Please let it leave on a high note.
Me too.
I miss New Orleans
Great. I didn’t think I was going to like Hawai’i, but I do and I’m looking forward to the crossover.
I hope its to tell the Hawaii agents they’re fired. I watched the first episode and that was enough. Of course it should be Vance making the trip and announcement.
Just wishful thinking
No doubt to set up Torres and his rebound for a luau hookup the forced pairing is cringe Torres has even less chemistry with Knight than he did with Bishop. As for Hawaii sat through four episodes and the characters were about as interesting as a freshly painted wall. Since one of the show runners has ties to Five-0 I’m more than sure there will be a throwaway line of Katrina Law’s time on that show like Knight saying “In another life I can see myself working on an island like this.
His “rebound”…?
On the rebound after Bishop left him high and dry?!
Originally Agent Knight was supposed to be married with a kid but now no mention of them.
That part of the original character description wound up not being used.
I figured that a) NCIS Hawaii would have had a Gibbs Cameo in the pilot (given that he made the trip to the islands in one of the last Pre-Covid shut down episodes). Maybe stop in to say “Congrats” or something.
But what I would like to see if a massive, NCIS cross-over. Start the mystery with a throw back to the failed “NCIS Red” series (maybe have the Red Team find former agent Meredith Brody’s body in the middle of Illinois, along with a sailor assigned to a ship out of Pearl Harbor). The Red team sends NCIS Red Agent Dave Flynn out to Hawaii team, to help with the investigation, and Vance flies out, to head the team “given the sensitive nature of the former agent involvement”. During the investigation, we learn the sailor has a connection to Gee and to Heady, of the LA NCIS office, and they are contacted.
Meh. I guess I’m the only person who doesn’t care for crossovers between shows. Most end up being disappointing as far as I’m concerned
I know what you mean, they can be really good but often end up teasing stories that never get resolved. E.g. Callan and Gibbs were “family” but never appeared onscreen together again after the LA pilot, Sam Hanna and Steve McGarrett were old comrades but never appeared together, Gibbs and Brody had history as well but after a little tease in the NO pilot this was never mentioned again.
.
And that’s just the NCIS universe, I’m sure there are loads more.
About time. Have to get NCIS: La crossover and throw in Magnum PI.
Problem is that unlike H50, NCIS is a different production company so some of the H50 characters that have lived on in the Magnum world won’t be on NCIS 50..
But NCIS and H50 ALREADY had a crossover between them and so it’s already established that H50, Magnum, MacGyver, and NCIS in totality all exist within the same universe.
So what do they do to continue this? Just hire the same actors under different characters never thinking “Hey if they end up back at the location of their old show, it would make more sense to have them come back as that character and keep their new character back at base.”
Technically, NCIS: LA had the crossover with H50 – but using the transitive property….
Right but you would still go with the idea one show is in the world, all the spin offs are in the same world.
…which is what the transitive property means. #HighSchoolMath :)
No amount of cross over will get me to watch Hawaii.
First episode was the last. In the opening minutes of Hawaii they cleared the soccer field for a helicopter landing so the first female agent in charge could go to a crime scene in style.
They didn’t do a big build up when Jenny became director. They didn’t do a big build up when they got a female secretary of the navy. They were accepted without having to show they have street creds.
The writers went out of the way to show Tennant was a female super agent and working mom. What did they do to show Parker was capable of leading Gibbs team? Did they have to? No.
Bad start. Lost me as a viewer. Could have had so much potential.
NCIS had MANY strong female characters over the years. As you said, Jenny Shepherd as well as Ziva David and Abigail Boren who was like a female counterpart to Agent Gibbs. These are only a few.
Their characters were not treated with all of the hoopla and overemphasis on gender. Just great female characters who made the show worth watching.
The loss of NCIS New Orleans still hurts. I can’t even consider the hawaii spinoff.
At least I can watch repeats of repeats of NCISNO on different networks. CBS should realize their huge error and revive the show with Pride and as many of the NO cast as they can
With NCIS and NCIS Hawa’i airing in the same 2 hour block it makes sense to do a cross-over–after all, NCIS helped both NCIS LA for it’s premier and several cross-overs with NCIS NO.No doubt those who have made up their minds that they do not care for NCIS Hawai’i either because of personal preference or because they’re resentful NCIS No was cancelled won’t be happy…but that’s already a given no matter what.
Maybe they could have Gibbs move from Alaska to Hawaii!
[MODERATORS: WHY DO ALL OF MY COMMENTS GET EMBARGOED?]
Ha!Ha! I’m now imagining the writers having Gibbs sending postcards and clues moving around different states or even visiting other countries from time to time like the Where in the World is Carmen. Sandiego”(just kidding,of course!)
I love the show I love Hawaii plus I’m native keep up the good work
And we need a NCIS :LA as well soon all 3 shows
I like NCIS and have watched all seasons. However, I can’t stomach NCIS: Hawaii & don’t know if it’s worth my time to watch the crossover.
In a word, NO!
Question why does it feel NCIS: LA is the forget one I mean it’s never in the conversation when crossover are being discussed?
