Samsung has announced that its upcoming TVs will support NFTs. The company is building a whole ecosystem to support creators and buyers to showcase and buy NFTs respectively. The first TVs with NFT support will start rolling out in the coming months.

Samsung has unveiled plans to bring NFT support to its MICRO LED, Neo QLED, and The Frame TVs in 2022. Dubbed the “NFT Aggregation Platform”, users will be able to showcase their digital artwork, purchase, and trade their NFT collection on upcoming Samsung TVs. For creators, Samsung is bundling in a calibration feature that will adjust settings based on the creator’s preset values on the fly, making sure that the artwork is displayed as the artist intended it to.

Explaining the reason for the company’s move into the NFT space, Samsung said,” With demand for NFTs on the rise, the need for a solution to today’s fragmented viewing and purchasing landscape has never been greater. In 2022, Samsung is introducing the world’s first TV screen-based NFT explorer and marketplace aggregator, a groundbreaking platform that lets you browse, purchase, and display your favorite art — all in one place.”

Moreover, the platform will allow you to learn about the NFTs and blockchain, the technology that powers all crypto assets.

While some people may regard the move as a way to capitalize on the NFT hype train that has seen everyone from Ubisoft to NBA rush to get a piece of the pie, NFT enthusiasts may find the feature a convenient way to browse and purchase digital art. Only time will tell whether Samsung’s NFT platform follows 3D TVs to the grave or sticks around for longer.
