As snow falls across the region for the first time this year, Marylanders were braced for impact.
Many school districts closed or announced delays Sunday evening.
City snow crews have been working throughout the morning monitoring conditions and treating city streets. They ask residents to stay off the roads if they can.
If you must travel, the Baltimore City Department of Transportation reminds motorists to 'take it slow on ice and snow' for everyone's safety.
The State Highway Administration is also asking motorists not to drive.
They say if you can, remain off roads today. If you must travel, use caution:

- SnowflakeIncrease distance between other vehicles to brake
Approximately 1-2 inches is expected to fall each hour between 7am and 11am.
The heaviest snow is expected through midday and doesn't depart until 4 p.m.
A winter storm warning is posted for Baltimore and areas south through 4 p.m. and a winter weather advisory is in effect for areas north and west.
While snow seems to be tapering off in the north, areas south of Baltimore like Annapolis are being hit hard!
Road conditions during the 7a.m. hour remained clear in most places as snow accumulated on sidewalks and grassy areas.

This is not the only chance for snow in the extended forecast with another weather-maker moving toward the mid-Atlantic late Thursday with a chance for snow and rain showers across parts of Maryland through Friday morning.
