Coronation Street recently kicked off a storyline in which Sarah Barlow starts to become suspicious of husband Adam after he admits that he had a fling with newcomer Lydia Chambers back in his university days, and there's going to be plenty of drama between the three to come.

Lydia is played by actress Rebecca Ryan, and interestingly, her brother Jack James Ryan is also part of the cast. His character Jacob Hay was involved in Simon's drug dealing storyline last year, and recently appeared again as part of Kelly Neelan's homeless plot, with more to come from him.

"It's so amazing to be working with Jack, that's another dream come true to be to be able to get to work with Jack on the same time and the same thing," Rebecca told Digital Spy and other press.

"Well me and Jack did a bit on Casualty, he came onto the show while I was there. But we didn't get to work together on it. We were just kind of there at the same time. But I've worked with my older brother Charlie before, because we're all actors, the three of us.

"And me and Charlie have worked together on a couple of stuff before, but I've never got to work with Jack. So it's amazing now that I've gotten to work with Jack on Corrie, it's a dream come true."

The two have only been on set on the same day once so far, since there isn't any real overlap between their characters. She explained that if the pair were too meet, then there may be a bit of mutual respect between them as Lydia is "quite feisty" and "wouldn't take any crap from him".

We'll have to see if their paths cross as Corrie's 2022 storylines really begin.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7.30pm on ITV.

Joe Anderton

Joe Anderton is a freelance news writer and resident Welsh person at Digital Spy, having worked there since 2016.

In his time he's covered a host of live events, interviewed celebrities big and small and crowbarred a countless amount of great/awful (delete as appropriate) puns into articles.

A big fan of TV and movies both mainstream and obscure, Joe's main interest is in video gaming. Although particularly a PlayStation gamer, he plays across Xbox, Nintendo and PC/Steam Deck, and likes to keep tabs on many games he's not got the time to play.

Joe currently does not use Twitter, but he only ever used it to tell people to watch the film Help! I'm a Fish (which you really should do).
