Dr. Sian "Leo" Proctor is a SpaceX astronaut who's already made history. She was a member of the Inspiration4 crew, the first private mission into the final frontier. SpaceX, of course, is the rocket and spaceship company founded by Elon Musk, who's also a founder and CEO of Tesla. So you'd think Dr. Proctor would automatically choose to buy a Tesla as her first EV. Makes sense, right? It does, but it wasn't the right EV for her. Instead, she opted for a Ford Mustang Mach-E.

Writing on Twitter, Dr. Proctor said that this isn't her first Ford. "I had a Bronco II during grad school and loved it! I had some fantastic adventures in it. I love that the Bronco is back but I needed an EV for all the city driving I'm doing."

"I'm going back to work at my community college district and will be visiting schools doing education outreach all over the phoenix valley."

Not at all surprisingly, Ford CEO Jim Farley was one of the thousands of people who "liked" her tweets. We doubt Elon Musk has any hard feelings about Dr. Proctor's preferred EV. After all, he and Farley have a history of praising one another and their respective companies on the social media platform. In case you haven't heard of Dr. Proctor, you need to know that she was not just some passenger onboard the spacecraft. No, she was the pilot.

She was also the first Black woman to pilot a spacecraft (the Crew Dragon capsule) and was only the fourth Black woman to journey into space. Her mission took place from September 15 to 18, 2021. Proctor originally wanted to work for NASA but it never panned out. Then SpaceX came calling and her life changed forever.

Being at the forefront of new technologies, such as EVs, and space flight goes back to her childhood. She witnessed her father provide assistance to the Apollo missions, including Apollo 11, from a NASA tracking station in Guam. And now she's a member of the ultra-exclusive astronauts club.
