Kin Shriner Wraps His Latest Run on GENERAL HOSPITAL

Tags:

Sorry, Scott fans, but Kin Shriner has wrapped up his latest stint on GENERAL HOSPITAL so the attorney will be moving to the back burner for the foreseeable future. “Thanks, GH fans for all the encouraging mentions,” the actor tweeted. “Scotty’s run is done, so heading to Florida to ride Vespa around the tropics!”

The character of Scott Baldwin was first introduced on GH in the mid-‘60s played by child star Johnny Whitaker. After a series of other young actors stepped in, Scotty was aged into an adult in 1977 when Kin Shriner took over the role.

The actor has come and gone from the soap numerous times over the decades that followed, like in the early ‘80s when he left to play Jeb Hampton on TEXAS. In 1997, he brought the popular character over to GH spinoff PORT CHARLES until 2001. During his daytime career, Shriner has also appeared on CBS sudsers THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL (as Dr. Brian Carey), AS THE WORLD TURNS (as Keith Morrissey), and THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS (as both Harrison Bartlett and a temporary recast of Jeffrey Bardwell).

GH Scotty at Nina's hearing
Scott may have gotten Nina’s charges dropped, but he blew up Sonny and Carly’s marriage in the process!ABC

But Shriner has always come back to GH, where he has earned three Daytime Emmy Award nominations for his work (his fourth nod was for PORT CHARLES). In recent years, he continues to appear on a recurring basis, so he only shows up when the storyline calls for it. December was a busy month for Scott as he represented Nina when she was brought up on charges for keeping an amnesiac Sonny away from his family.

Shriner may have returned to his home state of Florida for the holidays but hopefully, he’ll be back in Port Charles very soon because Scott’s unlikely romance with Obrecht has become a fan favorite and viewers want to see how it develops. Plus, given the crime rate in Port Charles, there are likely to be more folks needing slightly shady lawyers in the future anyway!
