MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis man who was supposed to be taking care of a vulnerable 69-year-old adult is now behind bars for abusing that person in his care, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

The TBI said that 64-year-old Terence Gray was arrested on Thursday for abusing a vulnerable adult.

The abuse allegation dates back to November 12, when the TBI started investigating Gray after receiving information from the Tennessee Department of Human Services Adult Protective Services, the agency said.

While investigating Gray, TBI agents said they found out that Gray was working as a caregiver when he abused the 69-year-old at a home in the 3800 block of Ridgemont Ave. in Memphis just days prior to the investigation.

An arrest warrant was issued for Gray on December 1 and less than a month later agents from the TBI and officers with the Memphis Police Department took Gray into custody.

Gray, who is no longer employed as a caregiver, was booked into Shelby County Jail on a $5,000 bond, the TBI said.
