This current wave of bird flu has led to the deaths of over 50 million birds across the nation, and another 1.8 million chickens will have to be slaughtered after a case of avian flu was found on an egg-laying farm in Nebraska. In Dixon County, about 120 miles north of Omaha, the state’s 13th case of bird flu was discovered on a local egg farm.
Wild turkeys are taking over New Jersey neighborhoods by storm. They are hopping fences into backyards…climbing steps and scaling buildings, climbing onto roofs, or standing by front doors. Some New Jersey residents have seen mad dashes to their vehicles as part of their daily routine as they avoid the wild animals and their aggressively territorial ways.
Hunters in Illinois harvested a huge number of deer in just the first weekend of the firearm hunting season this year. The first weekend of the season starts on Nov. 18 and goes until Nov. 20, and local hunters bagged a preliminary total of 52,354 deer. In 2021, hunters took 48,964 deer that same season.

Hawaii’s Mauna Loa, which is dubbed the largest active volcano, has officially erupted for the first time in nearly 40 years. According to CNN, Mauna Loa’s eruption has sparked an ashfall advisory on Monday (November 28th) for Hawaii’s Big Island and surrounding waters until 6 a.m. HST (11 a.m. ET). On Saturday afternoon, the Nanty Glo Fire Department in Western Pennsylvania received an unusual call. Three local residents were in a life-threatening situation, having fallen through the surface of a frozen lake at Duman Dam Park. The locals weren’t human, however, they were deer – two does and a young buck.
A Colorado teen has reportedly passed away after attempting to rescue two girls who were trapped in an icy lake earlier this week. According to WSMV, Dylan Whittenberg became trapped under icy water as he and another boy tried to rescue two girls from Crystal Lake in Roxborough on Tuesday (November 22nd). Residents nearby helped save the three other kids. Unfortunately, a dive team had to recover Whittenberg. The teen died on Thursday (November 24th) after being flown to a different hospital. He just turned 14 at the time of his death.
