Kansas braces for a winter blast
Winter weather is poised to ring in the New Year. Forecasters predict that Friday night will be a challenge because many people are expected to be out celebrating.
The City of Wichita is preparing for this New Year's winter storm. The city has sixty snow plows at the ready, along with salt and sand spreaders.
However, city crews will not be pre-treating the roadways because early rains would just wash it away. "So, anybody out on New Year's Eve, coming home, and throughout the day on Saturday, roads will be slick in certain spots," said Ben Nelson with the Wichita Public Works Department.
He added, that once the rains pass, crews will be out to treat what they can.
