SEATTLE — Seattle Public Schools announced Thursday afternoon that there will be no school Monday in an effort to offer voluntary COVID-19 testing for students and staff.

It comes after the school district said it received 60,000 rapid antigen tests from the Washington State Department of Health.

The district had planned to resume in-person learning on Monday, but it will resume on Tuesday as they work to get as many students and staff tested, with the omicron variant spreading.

School buildings will be open during normal hours for students who still need access to meal services:

  • All school sites will serve grab-and-go lunches between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Monday for students needing meal service.

Below are additional COVID testing sites available to students:

  • Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022 — Test clinics in partnership with Premier Medical Group will still be open for students in Southeast and Central Seattle. Learn more about COVID testing for students this Sunday.
  • Monday, Jan. 3, 2022 — Several SPS middle schools will serve as COVID testing sites for students. These are regional testing sites open to all SPS students. All clinics will be held in the cafeteria unless otherwise noted. Student testing sites will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Learn more about COVID testing for students on Monday, Jan. 3.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022 — On Tuesday and throughout the week, PCR testing and rapid antigen testing will also be available for students at their schools.

I can't afford health insurance. Went to a 20 minute Rapid Test Center to see if I was infected. They wanted $ 380.00 so I decided all I can afford is to assume I have influenza and punched the time clock. Now I understand why the illegal immigrants Biden is importing aren't tested. Too expen$ive.
