Derek McInnes makes exciting claim about Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic

Considering all the circumstances, Celtic must be happy with where they sit at this point of time. The club ended their trophyless streak earlier in the campaign by winning the Scottish League Cup. Their focus must now turn towards the Premiership title race though, where the Rangers still hold an edge over them and have a six-point lead at the top. It is not something that cannot be overturned though.

There are still 18 games to be played in the Premiership this season with the Glasgow rivals still set to meet each other three more times. And with how tight things have appeared to be, a lot could end up depending on the results of those games.

It must be said though that when Ange Postecoglou arrived as the Celtic manager, not many people would have expected him to turn things around this quickly. In fact, there were a lot of fans who were not very happy with the appointment.

It has not taken him long to become a fan favourite though. And as reported by Sky Sports, Derek McInnes said about Celtic:

"“They were the total opposite of Rangers. Rangers were settled and had the confidence of winning, Celtic were a bit all over the place and had lots of work to do before the season got underway. The managerial matters dragging out didn’t help much but since Ange Postecoglou has come in you have to say he has been very assured with his work. He’s very driven and very sure of what he wants from the team. The signings have been good and I think if he gets the chance to go and add more signings in January, the Celtic support will take confidence from what he’s already achieved.“Getting the first trophy helps of course but the league is normally where it is decided if it has been a successful campaign or not. I do believe if Postecoglou is given the funds to strengthen he has the ability to have a really strong Celtic XI.”"

At this point of time, the one area that Celtic do seem to fall a bit short on against the Rangers is their squad depth.

When the Hoops have had their best players available, they have arguably been the best team in Scotland. That has not been the case often though as Postecoglou’s side have had to deal with a series of injuries through the course of the season.

Of course, it is a direct result of their lack of options all over the pitch, which has resulted in some of their stars having to play a lot of football. Thus, it is only natural that some of them have picked up injuries along the way.

As a result, this January transfer window will be very vital for Celtic when it comes to adding to their squad and hopefully, putting up a title challenge.
