For the third time this year, residents in San Diego were startled by a mysterious and abrupt shaking.

According to NBC7, the shaking was reported around San Diego County at 11:37 A.M. on Tuesday, December 28.

Residents reported feeling a brief but violent shake in the Mission Hills, the San Carlos neighborhoods of San Diego, Santee, and El Cajon in East County.

After the mysterious incident, many residents took to Twitter and other social media platforms to share their experiences.

"I'm just logging in to confirm if that really was an earthquake or if I was losing my mind lmao. San Diego acting real sus right now, quaking while its raining," wrote one Twitter user.

An official with the United States Geological Society eventually confirmed that there were no quakes locally at that time.

Representatives for San Diego Sheriff's and San Diego Police said they hadn't received any calls reporting the incident and the National Weather Service said they were unaware of anything that may have caused the boom.

Furthermore, NBC7 reached out to the Marine Corps Air Base Miramar, the FAA, and the U.S. Navy, and none had any explanations or took credit for the shaking felt on Tuesday.

This is at least the third time an incident like this has been reported in San Diego. The most recent being in June and the first in February.
