Things got so bad at the Birmingham Bowl at the QB position that somebody many believed to be former Auburn football star Nick Marshall posed this question to the Auburn family:

"Can I come back for a 5th year of eligibility and play QB for Auburn again?"

…and they revealed what they wanted from the actual Nick Marshall in the process.

Now first, the Birmingham Bowl. TJ Finley had his glorious moments, including a 12-yard TD toss to Kobe Hudson that gave Auburn the lead. His final two drives featured glaring overthrows, including what could have been the game-changing bomb to Tar’varish Dawson.

Five straight incompletions to close out the contest left an acidic taste in the mouths of Tiger fans. After that, plus the other 13 incompletions, a replacement at QB, whether in-house or in the transfer portal, is desired by much of the Auburn football fanbase.

As for Marshall, he was recently re-signed by the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL. And while we’d like to think he’d be willing to return to AU, this cannot be confirmed.

The Auburn family still was hurting enough from the Birmingham Bowl that they were literally begging someone sharing his namesake to return to the Plains and do what he did best at the collegiate level:

Of course, Marshall got to experience a non-COVID collegiate career that saw unmatched heights reached since at the position on the Tigers. This would be an interesting time to say the least for the 29-year-old to return to school, but alas, it isn’t a legitimate possibility. The fantasy realm is where it will stay.

Either way, the hurt of Auburn fans right now is causing a yearning for better days that is getting a lucky man some serious Twitter engagement.
