The summer transfer window in 2022 could see Bayern Munich signing another center-back due to the potential departure of Niklas Sule. Rekordmeister has signed center-backs for three summers in a row as the rebuild at the back is close to completion.

Die Roten is currently in talks with Niklas Sule for a new deal, but the reports in Germany have suggested that he is likely to reject an offer from the club. The German Champions will have to find a replacement for Sule since he has been a key player under Julian Nagelsmann during Hinrunde.

Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt could potentially become an option for Rekordmeister in the summer. According to Repubblica (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern and Chelsea are preferred destinations for the Dutch defender. This report also confirms that Juventus is ready to sell De Ligt next summer to get funds for other transfers.

De Ligt’s growth as a central defender has stalled a bit at Juventus, but he remains one of the best young defenders in Europe. The only problem regarding this transfer is that De Ligt will be a very expensive transfer for Rekordmeister. Since his current deal expires in 2024, the Italian club is likely to demand a considerable transfer fee.

The Bavarian club has more urgent priorities than center-back to address next summer. They definitely need to sign a midfielder or two to compensate for the potential departures of Corentin Tolisso, Marc Roca, and Mickael Cuisance. A right-back is also needed for Die Roten since Bouna Sarr is likely to leave next summer. On top of these two positions, a winger could also become an urgent need if Kingsley Coman decides against signing a new deal.

The ideal scenario for Rekordmeister will be convincing Sule to sign a new deal. He has flourished under Nagelsmann and his best years are ahead of him. In case they fail to convince him, they should look for center-backs that will be available on free transfers.

Antonio Rudiger was heavily linked with a move to Bavaria as his deal at Chelsea is coming to an end. However, the latest reports across Europe have suggested that Real Madrid is leading the race for Rudiger. Matthias Ginter is another option for Die Roten as the German defender has decided against signing a new deal at Borussia Monchengladbach and leaving on a free transfer in the summer window.

The final solution for Die Roten to replace Sule will be moving Benjamin Pavard in the central defense. The French international wants to play in the heart of the defense, so getting a new right-back will help Rekordmeister to give him more opportunities in the preferred role. It will be a huge surprise if De Ligt dons the Bavarian kit next season since there are many other feasible center-back options for Die Roten.
