Interview: Former American Idol winner Ruben Studdard talks new 'gig' at UTC

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. —
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is adding star power to its staff.

UTC announced last Friday that Season 2 American Idol winner and Grammy award-nominated recording artist Ruben Studdard will join the university's Music Division.
The university says Studdard will lead a series of master classes on campus during the spring 2022 semester.
On Monday, Bliss Zechman interviewed Studdard about his new UTC 'gig.'

In a release, UTC says the singer's road to UTC started when Studdard sang the national anthem before a Mocs football game in October.
“I understand the importance of ‘See it, be it,’ and there are a lot of young people that want to be involved in the music industry that are music majors or theater majors or just in the arts, in general, and they really don’t know what that looks like in a real way," Studdard told UTC.
