Applications are now being accepted for the Jane Berg Tailwheel Scholarship.
The scholarship is for a tailwheel endorsement for a female pilot, according to Craig Blumer, who first offered the scholarship in early 2021.
Training will be in a 1946 Piper J-3 Cub in Salinas, Kansas, Blumer noted.
The $2,000 scholarship, named for one of Blumer’s flight instructors, will cover instructor and airplane time in the Cub, along with a stipend for travel and hotel if needed.
Deadline to apply is April 15, 2022. The winner will be announced by April 29, 2022.
Scholarship applicants must:
• Be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident
• Be female
• Hold a minimum of an FAA Private Pilot or Sport Pilot certification in airplane
• Hold a current flight review or equivalent under 14 CFR 61.59
• Meet parameters for the Piper Cub to be flown within legal limitations
Applicants must also submit a 300-word essay addressing why you want a tailwheel endorsement.
