Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale's Bernice Blackstock has been kicked out of Home Farm after a twist in the Christmas Day episode.

Bernice (Samantha Giles) has recently set herself up as a love rival for Kim Tate by trying to tempt away Will Taylor.

In the show's hour-long Christmas Day episode, Kim (Claire King) appeared to put up a fight for Will's affections by giving him a grisly surprise.

Having overheard Bernice and Will (Dean Andrews) chatting about their secret chemistry, Kim took her partner out to DI Malone's burial site on Home Farm land.

Kim revealed that she'd asked a shady contact to dig up the body and destroy it, meaning that Will didn't need to worry about Malone anymore.

Kim pointed out that Will now had no reason to feel tethered to her and could make his own decision over whether to commit to their future for the right reasons.

Will was bowled over by Kim's efforts and dropped to one knee, suggesting that they should get married. Kim accepted, but Will recommended keeping their news quiet for now.

Later, Kim and Will re-joined Bernice, Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham), Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) and Harriet Finch (Katherine Dow Blyton), who were waiting expectantly inside the mansion for the Christmas celebrations to begin.

Kim wrong-footed Will by suddenly announcing their engagement, but then revealed a sting in the tail by admitting that she knew all about his recent antics with Bernice.

Kim revealed: "This man right here just asked if I would be his wife. And despite Bernice's best efforts of trying to steal him from under my nose, I said yes."

Will was stunned as it dawned on him that Kim had been playing games to humiliate him and Bernice.

While Kim hadn't been lying over getting rid of Malone, she was still livid over Will's disloyalty and had no intention of marrying him.

The latest showdown led to Will leaving the festive celebrations in disgrace, with even Dawn and Harriet disapproving of how he'd treated Kim.

Meanwhile, Gabby told Bernice that it was time for her to move out of Home Farm – an idea that Kim was fully on board with. A tearful Bernice packed her bags to go, still upset over the way things had turned out with Will.

Does Will stand any chance of winning Kim back once the dust has settled, or is it all over for good?

Emmerdale continues on Boxing Day at 7pm on ITV, with an early release on the ITV Hub from 7am.
