• Blue Bloods is in the middle of season 12.
  • The show is infamous for its sporadic release schedule.
  • New episodes won’t air until Friday, January 7, 2022.

Blue Bloods fans love so much about the franchise, which has been airing on CBS since 2010. What they don’t love, however? The 3-week break they now find themselves in. That’s right, the Friday, December 10, episode was the last of 2021. While it left fans satisfied with Danny and Baez’s relationship (or, partnership, rather), Jamie and Henry’s wholesome interactions, and Eddie’s astrology narrative, it also left them thinking that the plot would pick up the following Friday, December 17.

Unfortunately, fans will have to hold their horses a bit longer to see how things play out because as it currently stands, the next new episode of Blue Bloods isn’t set to premiere until Friday, January 7. While it’s unclear what the episode will contain in its entirety, we do know the title — “Old Friends” — which makes it easier to assume the angle.

It’s tricky, though! The first thought to come to mind is, obviously, Lenny Ross—Frank’s oldest partner and friend—but if you look closely at Donnie Wahlberg’s Instagram, you’ll notice that he was recently back on set with Lyle Lovett, who plays Texas Ranger, Waylon Gates. Which ultimately begs the question of which old friend will make their way back to the streets of NYC? Only time will tell.

New episodes of Blue Bloods air Friday nights on CBS and can be streamed the next day on Hulu. You can also catch up on old episodes of the show on Paramount+.
