The Golden State Warriors signed 6-foot-3 guard Quinndary Weatherspoon to a 10-day contract via the NBA’s Hardship Exception on Thursday.

Weatherspoon, 25, appeared in nine games for the Santa Cruz Warriors during the Showcase Cup, making five starts. He has averaged 16.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.22 steals in 27.4 minutes per contest.

He suited up for Golden State, wearing No. 12, against Memphis on Thursday night, but didn’t see action in the Warriors’ 113-104 win. He’ll also be available for games against Phoenix on Saturday, Denver on Tuesday and Thursday, and Utah on Jan. 1.

He scored a season-high 24 points in a win over G League Ignite on Nov. 26.

Weatherspoon, a former standout at Mississippi State, was the 49th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft by San Antonio. He played in 31 games with the Spurs during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons, averaging 1.9 points and 6.4 minutes. He spent parts of the past two seasons with the Austin Spurs, San Antonio’s G League affiliate.

He originally signed with Golden State on Oct. 11, 2021.

SC Warriors’ schedule update: The NBA G League announced Friday that its regular season, originally scheduled to tip-off on Dec. 27, will begin on Jan. 5. The delay will give teams an opportunity to safely return players to market after Christmas and to replenish their rosters following NBA call-ups.

Santa Cruz was slated to tip-off the regular season with home games on Dec. 29 and 30. Those two game dates will be rescheduled in the coming months, and all tickets purchased for those games will be honored at the later date.
