The Light will shine on.

Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers, Willie Nile and Jesse Malin will headline “Bob’s Birthday Bash,” also known as the main event of the annual Light of Day Winterfest,Jan 14 at the Count Basie Center for the Arts' Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre in Red Bank.

More main event artists are to be announced. The Light of Day, Jan. 9 to 17 in Asbury Park, Red Bank andNew York City raises funds in the fight against Parkinson's and related diseases.

Bruce Springsteen has performed at 12 of the previous 20 live Light of Day main events, all unannounced.

Bruce Springsteen performs with Jesse Malin at Bob's Birthday Bash at the Light of Day 20th anniversary celebration at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park on Jan. 18, 2020.

Attendees must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test taken within 72 hours of door time at festival events. Rapid antigen tests and PCR tests are acceptable, but home tests are not.

City Winery in New York City does not accept negative tests in lieu of full vaccination. City Winery also requires attendees to wear masks inside the venue.

The rest of the Light of Day shows include performances by Max Weinberg's Jukebox, Dramarama, the Matt O’Ree Band, Albert Lee, Billy Hector, the Ronstadt Brothers, Williams Honor, Grammy-nominees Steve Forbert, Guy Davis and Linda Chorney, and more.

The annual Asbury Angels induction, which recognizes late members of the city's music community, will take place on Jan. 15 at the Stone Pony.

Last year's Light of Day was virtual due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Birthday Bash has taken place at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park in the last several years. Concerts at the Paramount and Convention Hall have been canceled or moved to other venues since late August.

Asbury Park issued a notice of default to Madison Marquette, the retail developer of the city's boardwalk, over safety concerns and other issues at the Paramount.

The roots of the Light of Day go back to a 1998 birthday show for Benjamin at the Downtown Cafe in Red Bank. The artist-manager had been recently diagnosed with Parkinson's, a progressive neurological disorder that affects nearly 1 million people in the United States and over 10 million worldwide, according to the Parkinson’s Foundation. It’s the second most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer’s, and is the 15th leading cause of death in the U.S. There are also Light of Day events in Canada and Europe.

The Light of Day Foundation funds research into possible cures, improved treatments, and support for patients (and their families and caregivers) who suffer from Parkinson's and the related neuro-degenerative diseases Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

Light of Day programs include Boxing for Bob, designed to use boxing exercises for the benefit of people with Parkinson’s and the related diseases.

“Thank you, Bob," said Springsteen from the stage of the Paramount in 2020 during the Birthday Bash. "Bob started this 20 years ago. Damn, that’s hard to believe, but it’s been an incredible experience. It’s done an incredible amount of good.”

Tickets for Bob's Birthday Bash and various festival combo packages, ranging from $55 to $405, are on sale via theBasie.org, Ticketmaster.com and onsite at 99 Monmouth St., Red Bank. Visit www.lightofday.org for more information and tickets to the other shows.
