El Paso Water said on Wednesday that the Sam Snead Stormwater Improvement Project in east El Paso is expected to be completed in early 2022.
The completion of the project was delayed in June when heavy rain and flooding caused massive holes in the pavement.
El Paso water said that the Public Service Board approved an emergency resolution to fast-track repairs at Sam Snead, and that a second contractor was hired to help.
The initial cost of the Sam Snead drainage project was $7.3 million. However, a number of construction change orders prior to the rain events on June 27 increased the cost to $8.4 million, El Paso Water officials previously said.
El Paso Water officials said the total cost of the project is likely to increase with the addition of the second contractor.
The project is funded by the stormwater utility that is supported by monthly user fees.
