Amelie McLain Is the New Charlotte on GENERAL HOSPITAL

Fans were taken by surprise when Valentin’s daughter had a new look in the Dec. 21 episode and now we can report that the new Charlotte Cassadine is being played by Amelie McLain. “I am so grateful for this opportunity and excited to join the GH family!” she enthused on Instagram.

GH is McLain’s daytime debut, having appeared in the movie Transference and a few short films. The seventh-grader also has a role in the horror film Terrifier 2 which is currently in post-production.

McLain made her debut on GH the same day that Charlotte’s previous portrayer, Scarlett Fernandez, announced that she had left the soap. In that episode, Valentin arrived at the Quartermaine mansion with Charlotte to visit Bailey, even though they now knew that they weren’t really related. Charlotte still wanted to give the baby girl the present she’d bought for her, even though Bailey wasn’t her sister anymore.

The character of Charlotte first appeared in October 2016, and while Claudette claimed to be her mother and Nathan her father, it was eventually revealed that Valentin was the girl’s real dad, and Lulu was her biological mother, as Claudette had only acted as a surrogate. Since then, Charlotte has found herself being the center of some bitter custody battles between her parents, and turned out to be quite the troublemaker herself.

The Charlotte recast is just one of many changes among the younger cast of GH. Viron Weaver recently made his debut as the new Wiley, and back in November, Zakary Risinger took over as Danny while Brady Bauer became the new Rocco. Kids grow up so fast these days! (But hopefully, we’re done with the recasts for a while, now!)
