Delta County Sheriff: Body of missing man found at lake

Officials with the Delta County Sheriff’s Office have announced they found the body of a missing man in Jim Chapman Lake.
Gerry Grigg was last seen near the Klondike boat ramp Friday afternoon.
A search continued through Monday, Dec. 20, with members from The Texas Parks and Wildlife, who were joined by Texas State Park Police, Texas Department of Public Safety Air 101 out of Mesquite, Delta County Sheriff’s Office, Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, Delta County Emergency Management and members of the family in a search and recovery operation.

Officials said Grigg’s kayak was soon found with some of his belongings. Shortly before 10:43 a.m., his body was located.
Justice of the Pace Shannon McCulloch performed an inquest at the scene, and Grigg’s body was sent to forensics to determine the cause of death.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time,” officials said.
