Myles Brennan had an eventual several weeks in the transfer portal as he tried to digest communication from other programs, and observe the transition to Brian Kelly’s staff in Baton Rouge.

Ultimately, Brennan elected to return to LSU, and explained why during a recent conversation with Chris Gordy of SportsTalk 790 in Houston. Brennan candidly shared about his conversation with Kelly that led him to make the decision to return.

Brennan said during his time in the portal, he looked for the best fit.

“The biggest thing I was looking for was having an opportunity with one year left to be able to go out on the field, play a full season, be the guy, help my team win as many games as possible, but ultimately showcase my talent, my abilities to be able to play at the next level,” Brennan said. “Because that’s obviously my main goal and that’s what I want to do.”

Brennan also noted the number of quarterbacks entering the portal seemingly grew by the day, and Brennan said he wanted to make the decision before Christmas. After he sat down with a couple of schools, he said LSU was the only school to make him reconsider where he wanted to go. Kelly then called Brennan a day before the quarterback was set to make his decision.

But Brennan was ultimately sold on what Kelly said his vision was for LSU, and how the coach saw the quarterback fit in that system.
