Wayne Bowling Teams Secure Home Dual Victories, Next Is Wayne Invite On December 28

WAYNE – With one more home competition scheduled for the Wayne High bowling team before the end of the year, WHS welcomed in a northeast Nebraska opponent this past Friday evening.

From Wildcat Lanes in Wayne, the Blue Devils hosted Thurston County.

In the girls division, Wayne battled back and forth through game one and slowly pulled away down the stretch to win 715-568.

All bowlers for Wayne fought for wins in match one. Leading the way for Wayne was Jamie Janke (171) followed by Jersi Jensen (169), Riley Haschke (134), Brianna Nissen (122) and Joslyn Johnson (119).

Game two found the host Blue Devils getting off to a hot start and picking up where they ended game one.  Wayne went on to win game two 804-611.

Winning individual matches for Wayne was Jersi Jensen/Lindsay Niemann (187), Brianna Nissen (179), Jamie Janke (169) and Joslyn Johnson/Leanne Westphal (136). Also scoring for Wayne in game two was Riley Haschke (133).

Thurston County would again keep it close in the baker format game but Wayne High held on for the 127-119 victory.  Final score for the match found Wayne winning 20-1.

 

During the boys division, Wayne got off to a good start and took game one 910-638 where all five Wayne bowlers won their individual match to go up 8-0.

Wayne was led in game one by James Dorcey and Calvin Starzl each with a 213. Other scorers for Wayne were Shayne Geidner (167), Brooks Kneifl (162) and Brogan Foote (155).

Game two found the host Blue Devils struggling a bit  but doing just enough to get the team win 760-562. James Dorcey/Jaden Dramse (167), Brooks Kneifl/Shayne Geidner (140), Jacob Anderson (155) and Calvin Starzl (179) all picked up wins in match two. Also scoring for Wayne was Brogan Foote (119).

In the baker format Wayne pulled away in the last three frames to win the overall match 20-1.

 

The Wayne JV bowling team also was in action last Friday in an intramural type format.  Leading the way for Wayne in game one was Alex Rodriguez (135). Other scorers were Carter Hasemann (130), Chase Adams (118), Ethan Wibben (115), Coby Dickes (112), Jamison Meyer (111), Carlyle Young (98) and Nina Hammer (77). Game two found Ethan Wibben leading the way with a game of 167. Other scorers included Carter Hasemann (157), Jamison Meyer (147), Alex Rodriguez (135), Carlyle Young (114), Chase Adams (98), Coby Dickes (95) and Nina Hammer (83).

The Wayne High bowling program will next welcome in Columbus Lakeview, Hartington-Newcastle and Plainview during a home invitational on Tuesday, December 28.
