"After experiencing mild symptoms and a slight fever, Congresswoman Malliotakis, who is vaccinated, tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday. She is quarantining at home and is feeling well," said Natalie Baldassarre, Malliotakis' communications director.

Malliotakis has not yet received a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, the spokesperson told SILive.com.

Baldassarre said their office has told Gov. Kathy Hochul's office, Mayor Bill de Blasio's office and FEMA "that Staten Island and Brooklyn would benefit from additional testing sites to cut down on wait times."

Baldassarre said Malliotakis stressed the need to get tested ahead of traveling for the holidays.

"The congresswoman continues to urge individuals to get tested prior to traveling or visiting loved ones this Christmas," she added.

The Republican has represented Staten Island and parts of southern Brooklyn since 2021.
