Austin FC Re-Signs Midfielder Jared Stroud To One-Year Deal

Austin FC announced today that the Club has re-signed midfielder Jared Stroud to a one-year guaranteed deal with two (2) option years. Stroud was selected by Austin FC from the New York Red Bulls as the second pick in the 2020 MLS Expansion Draft.

“I’m really excited to be back at the club and in the city of Austin,” said Stroud. “This is the best club, in the best city, with the best fans in MLS and I’m excited to get back and help move the standard forward.”

The 25-year-old Chester, New Jersey native recorded one (1) goal and four (4) assists in 22 appearances for Austin during the 2021 season, 13 of which were starts. Stroud provided the final assist for Austin FC’s fastest goal scored in Club history and scored the team’s last 2021 MLS regular season goal at Q2 Stadium in the 60th minute of a 3-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City.

“We’re very happy to have Jared back for the 2022 season,” said Austin FC Sporting Director Claudio Reyna. “He’s a motivated player with a lot of potential, and we look forward to seeing him take a big step forward in his career next season.”

Before joining Austin FC, Stroud spent the 2020 season with the New York Red Bulls where he made 20 appearances (11 starts) and contributed two (2) assists. Prior to his senior team call-up, Stroud spent the 2018-2020 seasons with the USL Championship’s New York Red Bulls II, making 68 appearances (56 starts), scoring 22 goals, and contributing 19 assists.
