It is time for steaks, sushi and sake.

Sakimoto, an upscale sushi restaurant and lounge, is now in its soft opening in the former Broadway Club spot (which was Corners Tavern before that) at 1342 Broadway Plaza. Look for premium ingredients, including A5 wagyu, the highest grade Japanese beef, and locally-sourced seafood in a Zen-garden setting at the spot between Macy’s and Lemonade.

Sushi chef and owner Brandon Jung and executive chef Mark Zawiski have crafted an eclectic and comprehensive seasonal menu at Sakimoto’s that starts with cold and warm starters, like chrysanthemum salad with radish, seasonal fruit, nori and miso, and a ramen “carbonara” with maitake and shitake mushrooms, Parmigiano Reggiano and egg. The traditional izakaya grill will fire up a medley of proteins from black cod to wagyu.

On the sushi side, look for nigiri and sashimi offerings as well as 11 specialty sushi rolls, including the Ruby Tuesday, an avocado and cucumber roll with smoked yellowtail finished with pickled raspberries.

Sakimoto’s beverage program includes nine cocktails, 12 craft beers, California wines and a curated list of 15 different sakes.

Stay tuned for a confirmed opening date and hours, which are expected to be from 4 p.m. Tuesday to Sunday; www.sakimotosushi.com
