Zedd returns to electro-house roots on remix of Grabbitz’s ‘Die For You,’ VALORANT’s 2021 Champions theme

Zedd‘s arsenal of live artillery just got a little deeper, thanks to a remix of VALORANT‘s 2021 Champions theme, “Die For You.” After debuting at VALORANT‘s Champions Final, Zedd’s high-intensity take on the Grabbitz anthem has hit streaming platforms, recalling an earlier era of Zedd sound in one festival-positioned package.

Stylistically, the remix sees Zedd return to his lauded electro-house roots. An initial “Spectrum“-esque chord progression that harkens back to his 2012-2015 sound mingles with his signature clock ticking sample, a hallmark of a Zedd production that traces all the way back to 2012’s Clarity (see the album opener, “Hourglass“).

Out now via Riot Games, Zedd’s rendition of “Die For You” also represents his return to the practice of fashioning music for a video game; five years prior, Zedd wrote and released “Ignite,” the 2016 League Of Legends World Championship theme. “Die For You (Zedd Remix)” arrives in tandem with an official visualizer that marries the audible with a visual that, from its dimension to its intricacy, is classic Zedd. Stream the official remix—Zedd’s first since his self-remix of “365” in March of 2019—below.
