Coronation Street star Jane Danson has enjoyed a far smoother love life than her troubled character, Leanne Battersby, with the actress having just celebrated her 16th wedding anniversary with Hollyoaks star husband Robert Beck.

On her Instagram page, the actress shared a beautiful black and white photo from her and Robert's wedding, which took place in December 2005. In the picture, you can see Robert placing Jane's wedding ring on her finger while a smiling Jane watches him.

"16 years ago today the world was a very different place," Jane captioned the post

"My world changed forever. I wish we could go back in time. I would go back to this day. Marrying my best friend in front of our special people, some who are sadly no longer with us. Happy anniversary my love," she continued.

Jane's Corrie co-stars shared their anniversary wishes with the pair, with Abi Webster actress Sally Carman writing: "Oh Happy Anniversary you guys! You look so beautiful Jane!" and Toyah Battersby star Georgia Taylor commenting: "Oh happy anniversary you darlings! What a day that was."

Rachel Leskovac, who played Natasha Blakeman, wrote: "Aw happy anniversary you beautiful people," while Lucy-Jo Hudson, who has starred in both Corrie and Hollyoaks alongside Jane and Robert, said: "Happy anniversary gorgeous."

Jane and Robert began dating in 1999 and their relationship has remained strong ever since, getting married in 2005 and sharing two sons, 15-year-old Harry and 12-year-old Sam.

Earlier this year, Jane opened up on how she and Robert, who recently departed Hollyoaks after his evil character Fergus Collins was killed off, keep their relationship strong after so many years together, drawing comparisons to Leanne's relationship with partner Nick Tilsley (Ben Price).

"Me and my husband have been together for 22 years, and we're really good friends as well as loving each other lots," she said.

"Nick and Leanne are similar in a way. We feel like we've gone full circle. They've been childhood sweethearts since they were about 16, and I was 18 when I met my husband so I think whatever it is they keep coming back to each other."

She added that she and Robert have "only had about two rows in 20 years", explaining: "I'm not saying we don't get on each other's nerves sometimes but we're a strong team and we've always allowed each other to be individuals."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7.30pm on ITV.
