Koivula was reassigned to AHL Bridgeport on Saturday.
Casey Cizikas (not injury related) and Brock Nelson (lower body) are both returning to action Saturday, so the Islanders are no longer in need of Koivula's services up front. The 23-year-old forward has picked up one assist through three top-level appearances this year.
