Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street star Jennie McAlpine has hinted that Tyrone Dobbs will face heartbreak on Christmas Day.

Show bosses recently revealed that Tyrone (Alan Halsall) will try to kiss Jennie's character Fiz Stape in the hour-long festive episode.

Fiz was dumped by Tyrone earlier this year and she's currently dating Weatherfield newcomer Phill Whittaker (Jamie Kenna). While Tyrone hopes to win back Fiz one day, it seems that she won't be interested in his advances this Christmas.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other media, Jennie explained: "Tyrone doesn't handle Christmas Day very well. He starts the day quite miserable, thinking that he's going to spend it with his nana.

"Evelyn has got some half price fishcakes from Dev's, which is what they're having for Christmas dinner. Tyrone is miserable about it, but then Fiz, Phill and the girls turn up.

"Tyrone is quite drunk and then Phill disappears to see his mother. There's a pigeon in the mix too, so this pigeon is right in the middle of this whole thing!

"Tyrone is quite drunk and maybe thinks Fiz wants to rekindle things with him. That's a mistake, as she doesn't want to rekindle. When Phill leaves for his mother's, that's when Tyrone tries it on."

Hinting that Phill's reaction to Tyrone's behaviour is one to watch, Jennie continued: "It ends with Fiz and Evelyn rolling their eyes at Phill and Tyrone! Fiz has had enough of both of them by the end of the day. All the girls have. Evelyn, the girls and Fiz have had enough.

"But the ending of the episode is pretty gorgeous. I don't know how we filmed it in a two-metre distance kind of time, but there's a gorgeous ending, not just for us but for everyone. There's a gorgeous, all-together moment where the boys are being very silly on the street."

However, Jennie added that she wouldn't be surprised to see Fiz and Tyrone reunite in the future.

She said: "Fiz would love Tyrone not to have done what he did – not to have absolutely blown their family apart. But does she want the Tyrone that exists now, the one that's done this to her? That's really hard.

"Fiz wants the one that was there before, before he ran off with Alina. She thought that she was enough for him.

"Fiz's heart is definitely there with Tyrone, because of all the history. Hopefully we've seen bits of that already. When Kirsty died out of the blue, Fiz was there for Tyrone. She was even there a little bit when he and Alina lost the baby. Her heart is with him.

"There just always a place for Tyrone, isn't there? But maybe Phill could be the lodger!"

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7.30pm on ITV.
