Crime Continues To Ramp Up In Philadelphia

Today, Dom led off the Dom Giordano Program by continuing the discussion centered on crime in Philadelphia, previewing upcoming interviews with Governor Ed Rendell on today’s show, and Mayor Michael Nutter tomorrow. Dom reinforces the value of those on the Left speaking out against incredibly progressive policies, arguing that those who need convincing respect those speaking out the most. Then, Giordano reveals more horrific crime that unfolded overnight, telling of another shooting, this time during a carjacking in North Philadelphia. Then, Dom reveals the results of a poll that tells a majority of Republicans have anti-big business ideologies, a change from the past in which liberals led that charge, and asks Dan and listeners for reasons why we’ve seen this shift. Also, Giordano takes calls throughout the hour, asking for movie scenes that left callers emotional, and Dom and a caller try to determine how and why somebody like Krasner could get elected.

Gov. Ed Rendell Speaks Out Against Krasner

Gov. Ed Rendell returns to the Dom Giordano Program to lead off the second hour of today’s show. First, Dom asks for Ed’s thoughts on the Eagles, being that Rendell is a lifelong Eagles fan. Rendell, who served as the District Attorney and Mayor in Philadelphia, as well as the Governor of Pennsylvania, has a lot to say about what we’re seeing by current leadership in Philadelphia. Rendell leads off by telling Giordano that he usually does not speak out about predecessors, but there is a pattern here, particularly by District Attorney Larry Krasner, that has led our city into despair. Rendell reads back his initial statement when he first spoke out against Krasner in endorsing Democratic opponent Carlos Vega, telling that he believes Krasner to be a good person who has lost his way in protecting the citizens of the city. Giordano asks Rendell if he takes personal offense when Krasner speaks out about the history of the DAs office and justice reform in the city, being a huge proponent himself for the cause, to which Rendell affirms and explains that reform is indeed necessary but the safety of citizens should be the primary goal. Then, Dom spends the remainder of the hour discussing issues surrounding crime, and Producer Dan reads back a statement by Krasner responding to the media criticism surrounding his words earlier this week in which he refused to call the crime situation in Philadelphia a ‘crisis.’

Philadelphia Crime Surges To A National Stage

Dom leads off the third hour by continuing the discussion centered on crime in Philadelphia, discussing the statement made by District Attorney Larry Krasner read last hour, in which he continued the trend of trying to pass blame to anybody but himself. Giordano tells why Krasner’s words are so damaging, and plays back national coverage of the crime, with Fox News’ Harris Faulkner leading off both of her hours this morning with the story. Then, Giordano offers his Money Melody for the day, then moves into a conversation about a transgendered UPenn swimmer who recently blew out the competition, asking why none of her female competitors would be willing to speak out.
