A North Beach restaurant refused to serve three armed San Francisco Police officers on Dec. 3, but a different restaurant is taking the heat for it on Yelp.

Hilda and Jesse refused service to three armed police officers, saying the weapons they were carrying made staff feel uncomfortable. By Dec. 4 their Yelp page was full of one-star reviews and criticizing the restaurants decision to not serve the officers.

Hilda and Jesse have since apologized for the incident but North Beach Restaurant, located at 1512 Stockton St., has been caught in the fire, KRON-TV reported. The North Beach Restaurant general manager said they have received hateful reviews and phone calls.

"I started picking up the phone today, and some people were very nice and understanding and listening," general manager Maureen Donegan told the station. "Other people screaming and lots of hate."

The confusion unfolded because people were referring to Hilda and Jesse as "a North Beach Restaurant" online.

Yelp has put an alert on North Beach Restaurant's page and temporarily blocking new reviews. The restaurant posted clarifying "It Was Not North Beach Restaurant!!", stating that they have a "happy and healthy friendship" with the San Francisco Police Department.
