It’s safe to say, the Seattle Seahawks are headed nowhere fast. It’s a quick and sad fall from grace for a team that has missed the playoffs just once since selecting Russell Wilson in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Headed toward a finish worthy of a top-ten selection had they not traded the pick for Jamal Adams, the Seahawks may need to find some clever ways to get back into contention.
Could such a move include trading Russell Wilson? It’s certainly possible with all the smoke in recent time, that we could finally see some fire in Seattle, headlined by a Russ trade. One potential roadblock is Wilson’s full no-trade clause, which allows him to refuse a trade to a situation not of his liking.
Now, a New York City-based insider is reporting Wilson would “strongly consider” dropping his NTC for a trade to three teams. They are the New York Giants, the Denver Broncos, and New Orleans Saints.
On the surface, each of the three teams makes sense. All three appear to be possibly a quarterback and a few smaller moves away from contention. Well, any time you can add a perennial playoff performer such as Wilson, you become a contender.
Of the three rumored possibilities, the Giants would appear to have the best chance. They have two first-round selections on top of Daniel Jones, a young quarterback who may just need a bit more experience to thrive. From Wilson’s perspective, it also catapults him and his wife, Ciara, into a major market. The Giants have been rumored to be an interesting team for Wilson’s camp for a few seasons now, highlighted by his love for the New York Yankees.
Though it may not be what any Seahawks fan wants to hear, their franchise quarterback may be looking to get back into a more competitive atmosphere as soon as possible. Which, as we’ve seen from Wilson over the years, it shouldn’t surprise anyone, he simply wants to win.
