WATCH: DC Metropolitan Police Department releases action-packed recruitment video that slams desk jobs

.

It’s “not your average desk job.”

That’s how Washington, D.C.‘s Metropolitan Police Department is marketing itself toward potential recruits. The department released a video advertisement Wednesday depicting a young student in a parent-teacher conference wondering what he’d like to be when he grows up.

“As you can see from his progress report, he’s doing exceptionally well, and is definitely one of my top students,” the teacher in the ad says. “He truly has a bright future ahead. So, Xavier, what do you want to be when you grow up?”

The video skips to the young student thinking about life at a desk job, which appears bleak. A supervisor throws a file of paperwork on his desk.

It cuts to a thrilling scene of a day in the life of an MPD officer in the nation’s capital, where Xavier and other officers run around, chase down criminals, cruise on boats, and drive at high speeds.

“I want to be an MPD officer,” he responds to the teacher.

The video then denounces “9 to 5” jobs.
