DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Cowboys are hoping to get more reinforcements on the defensive line just in time for their NFC East matchup against the Washington Football Team this weekend.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday that defensive end Randy Gregory and defensive tackle Neville Gallimore will practice today.

McCarthy said they'll see how both players do in practice this week before determining if they'll be active for the game.

Everybody's excited. I don't think anyone's more excited than those guys," McCarthy said. ... "It would be great if both those guys can go on Sunday."

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones expressed a good amount of optimism that both players will be able to go on Sunday.

"They've had a great couple weeks and they'll take another step this week (by taking part) in full practices. Unless there's a setback, which we certainly don't expect, we're preparing them to play in the game," Jones said Monday on the K&C Masterpiece on 105.3 The Fan.

Gallimore has not played yet this season due to an elbow injury he suffered during the preseason, forcing rookie Osa Odighizuwa into significant action. The team started his 21-day practice window last week, but will still need to activate him off of injured reserve before he can play Sunday.

Gregory, meanwhile, had been one, if not the best player on the defense since the start of the season, sitting with five sacks and 12 quarterback hits in his seven games. Gregory was designated to return from injured reserve on Wednesday and his 21-day practice window starts immediately. He'll also need to be activated off injured reserve before he's eligible to play.
