UMD Bulldogs "ALLETE" Moments: Competition
Throughout this year, UMD Athletics is partnering with Minnesota Power, ALLETE to highlight the Bulldogs accomplishments in the 3 C's: Classroom, Competition, Community.
Senior offensive lineman
Brent Laing has earned American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) First Team All-American honors, the association announced on Wednesday morning.
A native of Lakeville, Minn. Laing started all twelve games for the Bulldogs during the 2021 campaign. Laing played a crucial role in both UMD's 9-3 record and their run to the NCAA D2 Championship this past season. During twelve games in 2021, Laing helped the Bulldogs offense average 32.58 point per game, while also notching an average of 176.0 rush yards per game. Additionally, Laing backstopped fellow senior
Cazz Martin to 1,077 rushing yards in 2021.
For his efforts on the field, Laing was named All-NSIC First Team for the second time in his career. Additionally, during the 2021 preseason, Laing was named to the 2021 Reece's Senior Bowl Watchlist.
Laing joins UMary wide receiver Danny Kittner as the NSIC's only representatives to appear on the AFCA's first team all-american list.
Laing still has elligibilty at UMD should he decided to return to Minnesota Duluth next season.
