NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Newly released body camera video shows an NYPD officer saving a man from a burning car in the Bronx.

The video, tweeted by NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea on Tuesday, shows the rescue at Randall and East Tremont avenues in Throggs Neck on the night of Nov. 23.

In the video, the officer arrives at the burning vehicle and tries to douse the fire with an extinguisher.

But the flames continue to rage, so the cop grabs the man from the driver’s seat and pulls him to safety.

“This is how quickly your cops shift gears from crime fighters to life savers — going into harm’s way every day to protect human life, to keep strangers safe,” Shea tweeted.

“Truly a noble calling — they earn every bit of the name NY’s Finest,” the commissioner said.
