Plymouth Park Board Members Open Bids for Hoosier Old Wheels Playground Project

The Plymouth Park Board members opened bids Monday night for the proposed new equipment at the Hoosier Old Wheels Playground area.

Five bids were opened from The Robert Henry Corp with a base bid of about $484,000, Michiana Contracting, Inc. with a base bid of about $552,000, R. Yoder Construction Co. Inc. with a base bid of $590,500, Thomas Excavating & Welding, Inc. with a base bid of about $662,000, and La Porte Construction with a base bid of $797,400.

Park Superintendent Mike Hite, Plymouth City Attorney Sean Surrisi, and Mike Reese from The Troyer Group will review the bids, including alternate bids, and award the lowest responsible bid.

Reese noted in an earlier report that the new playground will feature rubber surfacing, similar to Freedom Park, which will have an underdrain which would drain to a rain garden.  It will also have a trail, block feature, double swing, hill slide, hill rope, zipline, hill climbing net, and hill climbing domes.
