UPDATE: Individual arrested after pictures of a gun found, increased police presence at Weyauwega-Freemont School District

WEYAUWEGA, Wis. (WFRV) – The Weyauwega-Fremont School District has released information regarding the threat made to the school district.

According to a letter to parents, local law enforcement worked overnight on the situation and was able to minimize the threat and found images of a student with a handgun had surfaced. Through the investigation, they arrested an individual and charges are pending.

School will resume on Thursday, December 9 but there will be an increased police presence at the school in addition to contacting local schools to have an increase in school counselors on hand.

Original Story: Weyauwega-Fremont School District closes after threat made to high school

WEDNESDAY, 12/8/2021 5:25 a.m.

WEYAUWEGA, Wis. (WFRV) – Schools in the Weyauwega-Fremont School District are closed Wednesday after a threat was made to the high school.

According to the Weyauwega Police Department, a threat was made to the high school, and are working with the school district on the investigation. Authorities say they have a juvenile in custody.

The closure of the Weyauwega-Fremont School District is reportedly related to the threat. Officials thought this was the best course of action.

There reportedly will be a meeting between police and school officials this morning.

There was no information on what type of threat was made, but a press release is expected later this morning.
