Tuesday, Dec. 7 marks 80 years since Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, killing thousands of U.S. servicemen.
Members of the Kings County Veterans of Foreign Wars rang a bell and tossed a wreath from the American Veterans Memorial Pier.
For the past 41 years, these members have made it their mission to never forget the more than 2,000 service members and civilians killed in the attack, which led to the U.S. entering World War II.
Organizers say it is important to continue the tradition so that Americans do not forget such a horrific day in their history.
"We're all products of that history, and it doesn't discriminate against any race, creed, color, religion,” says Sanford. “It's important that we be here to honor those people that gave their lives for us."
