THE POLICE CHIEF SAYS THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE OFFICERS AT NEXT YEAR’S PARADE. ASSCARY SIGHT PEOPLE SCREAMING A MINIVAN SPEEDS PAST THEM HEADING TOWARDS PARADE PARTICIPANTS, YOU KNOW, WE’VE NEVER HAD ANY KDIN OF TROUBLE HERE BEFORE WITH ANYTHING LIKE THIS HAYDEN POLICE CHIEF JESAM CHMANAP WAS LEADING THE PARADE ERETH WERE HUNDREDS OF KSID OLDER ADULTS. STANDING RIGHT ON THEOG F LINE. THISUY G THIS GUY WAS WITH WITHIN INCHES AND FTEE OF WHERE TH WEYERE AND I MEAN THIS JUST 'SIT JUST IT’S A MIRACLE. NOBODY GOT HURT POLICE. SAY THIS GUY. TONY NIX WAS BEHIND THE WHEEL FIRST RESPONDERS BLOCKED ALL MAJOR ROADS, INCLUDING BOTH ENDS OF HIGHWAY 160 INVESTIGATORS SAY NICK’S WAS UPSET ABOUT SOMETHING AFTER HE PARKED AND WANTED TO LEAVE THE PARADE, BUT IT HAD STARTED ALREADY. CAN’T SAY I DIDN’T KNOW BECAUSE THE PARADE IS FACING MY CAR HAD THE LIGHTS FLASHING THEY WERE CHASING HIM ON FOOT COURT DOCUMENTS SAY NEXT DROVE PAST THE BARRICADES WHILE HOLDING HIS MIDDLE FINGER UP AT OFFICERS FLIPPING THEM OFF. I THINK HE’S GONNA PAY THE PRICE FOR MAKING A VERY UNWISE DECISION ANDHE TN CREATING A DANGEROUS RISK TO OTHER PEOPLE’S LIVES. THE CHIEF SAYS HE HAD FEWER OFFICERS AT THE PARADE BECAUSE NEIGHBORING AGENCIES WERE HELPING PATROL ANOTHER PARADE CLOSE BY I THINK. CLEANGNI NEEDS TO BE MADE IN ALL OF THOSE EVENTS TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY’RE NOT ON THEAME S NIGHT. SO THERE’S ASSETS THAT CAN BE USED BETTER USED IN BOTH PLACES. HE CREDITS HIS OFFICERS AND OTHERS WHO RESPONDED QUICKLY, BUT IT’S JUST AN EYE-OPENING EXPERIENCE. THAT SHOWS HOW MUCH MORE WORK THERE IS TO DO .THAT WORK CHAPMAN SAYS IS STARTING RHTIG NOW. Man arrested after driving minivan through Alabama Christmas parade
One person was arrested after a minivan drove into a Christmas parade in Hayden, Alabama, Tuesday night. The scary moment was caught on camera. Watch the video above. Hayden Police Chief James Chapman said no one was injured and the driver of the minivan was arrested shortly after the incident. The driver, who has been identified as Tony Nix of Trafford, Ala., is charged with reckless endangerment and attempting to elude. He was booked into the Blount County Jail Tuesday night and released on bond Wednesday at 10:40 a.m., jail records show.According to court records, Nix was "flipping the bird" as he drove past barricades and uniformed police officers. A complaint alleges Nix refused to stop for officers and "almost struck law enforcement."Chapman said anyone who wants to make a police report for reckless endangerment should contact the Hayden Police Department."To all of those that were in attendance at the Christmas parade tonight, if there is anyone who would like to make a police report for reckless endangerment needs to contact Hayden PD and we will get this process started," Chapman said. "I am thankful that no one was injured by this person. The Hayden Police Department has arrested this subject and initiated criminal and traffic charges. Thank you to all that assisted."The parade was held on Highway 160 and was closed for the duration of the event. Prior to the parade, the police department posted this message on social media:"Don’t forget the Hayden Christmas parade is tonight, Tuesday, December 7 at 7 pm. Highway 160 will close at 6:50 pm for the duration of the parade. Please plan accordingly should you need to travel in the areas between and/or near Hayden Primary School and the Hayden Town Hall. Police and fire units will be riding Highway 160 with emergency lights on to slow traffic down so you can get in a spot safely to view the parade. West Blount Fire District has set up 15 light towers along the parade route to help ensure the safety of all parade attendees and participants."The incident comes a little over two weeks after a man drove an SUV into a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin, killing six people and injuring more than 60 others.
