Genius Korea Unveils Top Boy Groups, Top Soloists, Top Rookies & More on its 2021 Year-End Chart
Genius Korea announced the Top 10 artists in five categories, "Top Boy Groups," "Top Female Soloists," "Top Rookie Boy and Girl Groups," and "Top Rookie Soloists"! Can you guess the artists selected?
On December 7, public forum Genius Korea, the biggest Korean lyric translation website, dropped its 2021 Year-End chart, which summarizes the hottest K-pop artists and groups that stood out the most this year.
In particular, the rankings are compiled through the Genius Korea community, considering criteria such as artists should have had a release from Nov. 2020 to Nov. 2021.
Also, the lists were based on the Genius Korea database, which contains the total pageviews or the number of people who searched for a certain artist on the platform.
(G)I-DLE YUQI, D.Ark, THE BOYZ Jacob & More Named as Top Rookie Soloists by Genius Korea
In the chart, Yuqi from (G)I-DLE reigned as top rookie soloists with her solo debut album, "A Page," in May. The female star proved her popularity after topping the chart despite being a non-Korean idol, who barely have promotions in Korea as a soloist.

In the rookie category then, PURPLE KISS, the sister group of MAMAMOO took home the first place spot for the top girl group. The septet particularly attracts the attention of the K-pop scene as a self-producing group who are involved in both songwriting, dance and more of their releases.

For the male group, ENHYPEN flaunted their "rookie monster," energy as they ranked No. 1 among rookie boy groups. In November, ENHYPEN officially became a million-seller group with its first full album, "Dimension: Dilemma."

BLACKPINK Rosé, BTS Crowned as Top Female Soloist and Top Boy Group by Genius Korea
In another category, BLACKPINK Rosé then rose as this year's top female soloist with "On the Ground." The main vocalist of the group specifically showed her impact by selling more than 500k album copies and broke PSY's YouTube views achievement in 24 hours.
Lastly, BTS secured its spot as the top boy group in Genius Korea. Along with the septet, its brother group TXT also proved their success as they ranked No. 2.
