DFW Airport passengers leaving on Spirit Airlines flights can now check their bags without ever talking to a human being.
Spirit Airlines passengers can now scan their license and boarding pass, check a bag, and load onto the conveyer belt without talking to an agent.
Spirit's Mike Byrum said this can simplify the process of checking in where passengers have had to talk to someone at the ticket counter to check a bag, then go through TSA then go to the gate.
"Stitching those all together is unique and challenging, and DFW quite frankly was just really motivated to do that," Byrum said.
DFW vice president of innovation Jodie Brinkerhoff said the process can cut wait times by 30 percent.
Byrum said Spirit started working with DFW on the project before the pandemic, but people have become more open to using automated systems over the past two years.
