It's no secret that at least as of right now, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are not exactly looking like the championship-caliber team many believed they were going to be prior to the start of the season. With the trade deadline fast approaching, it appears that LA could be looking to shake things up as rumors have now emerged about a potential former lottery pick trade target.

According to J. Michael of the Indianapolis Star, the Lakers are one of a handful of teams that have “expressed interest” in Indiana Pacers forward Jeremy Lamb as a potential trade target. The Charlotte Hornets are reportedly also interested in the 29-year-old veteran, as well as two other unnamed teams. Needless to say, it sounds like Lamb is going to be a hot commodity as we draw closer to the February trade deadline.

Lamb is currently on an expiring deal with the Pacers which means that he's going to be a free agent in the offseason. This makes him even more attractive for teams such as the Lakers as they will not be tied down to a long-term deal with Lamb should they acquire him from the Pacers. It is also worth noting that he is set to earn $10 million this season so the Lakers will need to make some salary cap moves if they bring in the former 12th overall pick. It is unclear from the report what the Lakers intend to give up in a potential deal with the Pacers.

In 19 starts this season, Lamb has averaged 7.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game on a 39.7 percent shooting clip.
