Man tries to carjack KFC truck directly across from Tukwila police station

A would-be carjacker tried to steal an occupied truck in Tukwila Tuesday morning, but apparently didn’t know the police station was directly across the street.

Tukwila police said that just before 3 a.m., a 31-year-old Seattle man tried to carjack a KFC delivery truck at gunpoint at the KFC at 15036 Tukwila International Boulevard.

The Tukwila Police Department, which is right across the street, was full of officers writing reports and doing other administrative tasks.

Once police were dispatched to the call, officers ran out of the station, quickly found the man and took him into custody.

According to a post on the Tukwila PD’s Facebook page, the driver of the KFC truck “wasn’t having any of it,” and the suspect put the gun in his pocket and walked away.

A gun was found on the man during a search. The truck driver also identified the man as the person who tried to carjack him.

The man was booked into jail a short time later.
