Fort Bragg soldier deported for VISA fraud, false immigration statements

RALEIGH, Wake County —
A Fort Bragg soldier was deported from the United States Tuesday.

Maryam Movsum Hasanova, 35, was also ordered to pay $41,511.06 in restitution to the U.S. Army.
Hasanova is a citizen of Azerbaijan and after her exchange visitor status expired in 2014, a U.S. man was paid roughly $15,000 to marry her in exchange for her permanent green card.
Hasanova and the American man were married in 2015.
Once married, she joined the military and began collecting military benefits at the married rate.
The case was investigated by Homeland Security, FBI, Joint Terrorism Task Force in Fayetteville and was assisted by U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division and the Fraud Detection and National Security Unit of USCIS.
